群馬の高校生によるボストンホームステイ雑感その3 - スタッフブログ｜JTB ルックアメリカンツアー

2011年3月中旬、群馬の日本人高校生たちが、国際理解の為、
数週間のボストン・ホームステイ・プログラムに参加しました。

英語はもちろん、異文化交流を通して感じたこと、心に残った出来事を、

Symphony Hall
This is Symphony Hall. It’s a home ground of Boston Symphony Orchestraand Boston Pops.　If you want to visit here, you should get off the station Symphony (green line). This is a large and very beautiful building, so I’m sure you’ll enjoy it very much. There are some tours, and it will become your good experience.

Saint Patrick’s Day
I went to see the parade of Saint Patrick’s Day. It was very good. However, I went there with 12 of my friends. There were many kinds of people; for example, people from Argentina, Belgium, Korea, China, and Venezuela. I
felt that I was in “the. Salad bowl”. It was a very good experience for me.

“POOL”
One day, we went to “pool bar“. This is “Japanese- English“, which means English expressions made by Japanese people. This is the place where we can play billiards. In the US, billiards is said to “pool”. Actually, “pool” is the name of one of the billiards game styles. Although it is regarded as a name of the game in the US.

Snowden High School
We visited Snowden High School on Friday. We met the students studying Japanese. What made me surprised was some of them were very good at talking in Japanese. They like Japan very much, and have visited Japan several times. I was glad that I could meet them and became friends.

New England clam chowder
This is New England clam chowder. I ordered it at the seafood restaurant, LEGAL SEA FOODS, LLC.Clam is a kind of shellfish. I ate it for the first time. It was very delicious! Why don’t you try it?
